Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress (IIED)
In this video, you should consider the following:
- The defendant must have both acted in an extreme and outrageous manner and have caused severe emotional distress.
- A Physical manifestation of the distress is not necessary.
- Make sure to compare IIED with Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress (once you learn it) and note the differences. Students often get tripped up on the differences between the two.
