Peter returns home after a month-long trip around the world. In his mailbox, he finds a 30- day notice sent via first class and certified mail that his child is being adopted. The adoption hearing is scheduled for 15 days from now. Peter did not know that he had a child, so he consents to the adoption in writing. However, two years later, Peter regrets consenting to the adoption and asks the court to set the adoption aside. He claims that he never received proper notice, and that he has a right as a parent to see his biological child. Is Peter likely to succeed in court?
