Tania is a law student with a lot of credit card debt because, well, she is a law student. Plus, she has to look good for potential job interviews. Lately, she has been unable to make her minimum payments. The accounts have been sent to a bill collector, who has taken to calling poor Tania at 10 pm every night, when she gets home from class. The bill collector has even started saying things like: “No amount of fancy makeup will make you any classier!”, and “Why do you need those nice clothes, you’ll never amount to anything!” She is quite upset, has not been sleeping well, and her classwork has started to suffer as a result. Some nights she doesn’t even go home, and has been staying with her friend from law school, Melissa, but has become so stressed by the phone calls that she believes Melissa’s cats are judging her (Which they are!). She comes to you for advice.
Does she have any legal claims?

What are the elements of an IIED claim? Are they met here? Think about what evidence there is that Tania actually suffered from severe emotional distress.
