The plaintiff approached the defendant in 1987 about the possibility of publishing a collection of her late husband’s short stories which had never before been published as an anthology. In August of that year, a publishing agreement between the two parties was signed, and the defendant was paid an advance for the stories. Once the stories had been located and collected, the defendant informed the plaintiff that she no longer wished to publish the stories, and she tried to return the advance.
