Vale v. Louisiana

Police officers holding a warrant for Vale’s (Petitioner) arrest witnessed what they believed was a narcotics deal outside Vale’s house, after he went inside and brought something out to give to a known addict. They arrested the Vale on the front steps and proceeded to enter and search the house, discovering narcotics in a bedroom. Vale was charged and convicted in Louisiana trial court of heroin possession. The Louisiana Supreme Court affirmed his conviction, rejecting the claim that evidence introduced at trial from the search of his home was the product of an unlawful search and seizure.
