Defendant testified under a grant of immunity that prevented the government from using anything he said against him in any criminal case, except perjury and false declarations. Defendant was asked if Greg Anderson ever gave him anything injectable or in a syringe. Defendant responded with anecdotes about his friendly relationship with his doctor. Defendant was then asked if Greg Anderson ever gave him anything with a needle or syringe, and the defendant answered that Anderson would never do anything to jeopardize their friendship. The defendant was asked to clarifying and either affirm or deny that he was not given anything in a syringe or needle from Greg Anderson, and he affirmed.
Later investigation and testimony proved that the defendant was getting significant amounts of steroids and performance enhancing drugs from Greg Anderson, and the defendant was convicted on obstruction of justice charges.
