Little v. Blue Goose Motor Coach Co.

Little (plaintiff), while driving his automobile, collided with a bus owned by Blue Goose (defendant). Blue Goose sued Little for the damage caused to the bus, and the peace court decided in favor of Blue Goose, finding that the collision and damages caused to the bus were due to Little’s negligence. Little then sued Blue Goose in city court for personal injuries. Blue Goose argued in defense that in the peace court proceedings, the same issue had already been decided through the presentation of evidence, with the court deciding in favor of Blue Goose. The city court entered judgment in favor of Little. On appeal, the Appellate Court of Illinois reversed. Little appealed to the Supreme Court of Illinois.
