Davis robbed an insurance agency. During the course of the robbery, he bound Yvonne Bustamonte and Juanita Luciano with duct tape. He then poured gasoline on them and lit the building on fire. Both Bustamonte and Luciano managed to escape from the building, but succumbed to their injuries.
Upon arriving on the scene, Lt. Joe Elrod was able to get a statement from Bustamonte while she waited for a medical airlift. Bustamonte identified Davis as the perpetrator, that he was a client of the agency, and informed Lt. Elrod what had occurred. Other witnesses to Bustamonte’s statement confirmed that Bustamonte stated she was going to die and her injuries were dire.
