Jewel Jones Greer’s 1997 will was offered for probate by Executrix Katherine Lane, but Floyd Wilson challenged Greer’s testamentary capacity. The will distributed Greer’s estate equally among seventeen beneficiaries, including sixteen blood relatives and Lane, who had cared for Greer. The drafting attorney and multiple witnesses testified that Greer was mentally competent when she signed the will. This established a presumption of testamentary capacity. The challengers presented no evidence of Greer’s inability to make rational decisions but pointed to her age, eccentric behavior, and fears in her later years.
