Bruce Webb (Plaintiff) and his father were driving a tractor down a public road one at night, trying to find some of their missing cows. Plaintiff was standing on the tractor’s draw bar when the tractor was hit by a car. Plaintiff was seriously injured. Plaintiff brought a products liability claim against the manufacturer of the tractor, Navistar International Transportation Corp. (Defendant). Plaintiff argued that the tractor was defectively designed and lacked adequate warnings of these defects.
