The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) began investigation a meth drug-ring in Arkansas. Defendant held the title to one of the four houses the DEA was surveilling. She lived there with her three children, her boyfriend Ivan, and his brother Fredy. Defendant also held title to four vehicles used to conduct drug deals and was being surveilled by the DEA. At one point, the home received an air conditioning unit that was stuff with meth.
One day, Ivan took the defendant and two of her children to Dallas Texas, where he planned on purchasing ten kilograms of meth. The car seats were filled with drugs. When they arrived in Dallas, DEA agents intercepted a phone call where Ivan said that he fixed everything. They then drove back to Arkansas. DEA informed local law enforcement, and a state trooper pulled the vehicle over for a traffic violation. Defendant consented to a search of the vehicle. A search revealed a cordless screwdriver, a suitcase with Ziplock bags, and very heavy car seats. Opening the car seats revealed $19,000 in cash, 2.5 kilograms of meth, and another $2,000 in cash in the defendant’s purse. A later search warrant of four homes involved revealed $18,000 in cash, distributable amounts of meth, Ziploc bags, digital scales, acetone, and car seats.
