Defendant was dating a member of the Latin Kings, a gang in NYC. She often helped him in his drug distribution duties driving him to deals, accepting cash for him, and even doing some of the deals herself. There was a mission that aspiring gang members Maldonado and Romero were given to locate and kill members of the rival gang, the Bloods. Defendant with her boyfriend drove there with a third person, Tambito to pick up the shooters. They were told to abandon the mission.
The next day they attempted again, sending Maldonado and Scarlett. In teh attacked, Scarlett was shot and killed. There was gossip that Maldonado was a spy working with the Bloods and that he killed Scarlett. The Latin Kings decided to retaliate and kill him. They sent Maldonado and Overton on a fake mission. During it, Overton shot and killed Maldonado. Overton was to be picked up by Lewis and Cardoza in her vehicle after shooting Maldonado. After running in the wrong direction, they picked up Overton and drove away and she drove Overton back to his home.
