In 1999, a small fire broke out at Supreme Pork’s pig farrowing facility, Master Blaster was contracted to restore the pressure washer room of the facility. While performing services, it was determined the room’s venting system needed to be redesigned and a new chimney installed.
Master Blaster recommended PP&H to perform the venting and chimney work. PP&H provided a price quote to Master Blaster, which it then presented to Supreme Pork. The trial court treated PP&H as Master Blaster’s subcontractor.
In 2002, a second fire broke out at the same facility, which did significant damage to Master Blaster’s facilities. Expert testimony included the existence of non-causal building code violations in the chimney, plus evidence of a separate fire at a different location involving PP&H.
