Wanda Quisenberry allegedly developed mesothelioma and died as a result of exposure to asbestos fibers brought home on her father’s work clothes during his employment at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (now Huntington Ingalls) from 1942 to 1979. Her father’s job involved working with products containing asbestos, and the dust from these products would adhere to his clothing, which he wore home daily. Wanda was exposed to this asbestos dust when she regularly laundered her father’s work clothes. The complaint alleged that the defendant knew or should have known of the dangers of asbestos exposure, including the risk to family members, yet failed to warn employees or implement safety measures to prevent such exposure.
