Casey (Respondent), a Colorado attorney, represented a teenager, S.R., after the teenager was cited for underage drinking and had given the police a driver’s license in her possession that had been issued to her friend, S.J. Casey falsely informed the city prosecutor’s office that he was representing S.J., instead of S.R., and obtained discovery using S.J.’s name. He falsely appeared in court on behalf of the named defendant, S.J. While the S.J. matter was dismissed, S.J. had a criminal record and was upset that Casey had spoken with the prosecutor and purported to represent her outside of her presence. Casey was suspended from practicing law for forty-five days.
