Olden v. Kentucky

Matthew and her friend, Regina Patton, had driven to Princeton, KY to exchange Christmas gift’s with Olden’s half-brother Russell. After meeting Russell, Matthews and Patton stopped in J.R.’s a “boot-legging joint.” Matthews testified that she wanted to leave, but Patton refused and Olden later approached her alleging that Patton had been in a car accident. Matthews then accompanied Olden and Harris to find out what happened. She alleged they threatened her with a knife and raped and sodomized her. She was then driven to a dump where two other men joined and raped her again. They then dropped her off near Russell’s house.
Olden and Harris testified that Matthews propositioned Olden and the two had sex behind the bar. Afterwards, on Matthew’s suggestion, they then left in Harris’ car in search of cocaine. When the seller was not at home, Matthews asked Harris to drive to a local dump so she and Olden could have sex again. Later that evening, Richard Hickey and Chris Taylor joined the party and drove to another establishment called The Alley. Hickey, Taylor, and Harris went inside. Hickey and Harris later returned to the car and dropping Hickey off at a store and Matthews near Russell’s house.
At the time, Matthews and Russell were engaged in an extramarital relationship with each other. At the time of the trial, they were co-habiting.
