In 2011, HP announced that it was discontinuing production of the 16 GB HP TouchPad Tablet. In order to liquidate the product, Barnes & Noble offered a steep promotional discount of $101.95 ($399 retail price) via its website. Nguyen ordered two tablets from Barnes & Noble during the sale. Following his purchase, Nguyen received a confirmation email and a hold was placed on his credit card for the purchase amount. However, 15 hours later Nguyen received a second email cancelling the order due to lack of inventory.
