The parties divorced after eleven years of marriage. At the time he filed for divorce, appellant had recently completed his medical training and just become a practicing surgeon. The respondent was a hairdresser. The decree granted alimony to the respondent in the amount of $500 per month for five years and child support in the amount of $250 per month until the child reaches age 21. Three years later, respondent filed an action for modification of the decree, because appellant’s net income had increased since the time of the divorce. The trial court extended the alimony award for four years by $100 and increased the child support order by $150.
