David Rings, who had no children of his own, and his wife Teresa, who had a son from a prior relationship, died within 25 minutes of each other under unclear circumstances on September 2, 2015. David held two life insurance policies through his employer. The policies stipulate that benefits are paid to designated beneficiaries, with the requirement that the beneficiary be alive at the insured’s death.
