Facts
MacPherson (plaintiff) bought a car that was manufactured by Buick Motor Co. (defendant). While the plaintiff was driving, the wheel of the car detached because the spokes were made with defective wood and the plaintiff was thrown from the car and injured. The wheel was made by another manufacturer, but evidence showed that the defendant could have discovered the defect by reasonable inspection. The plaintiff sued the defendant for negligence.
