Shirley Green was the mother of Robert Lee Green and Anthony Lee Green. Shirley was unmarried and living with her parents at the time Robert was born. She arranged for the defendant to take Robert to her home and paid the defendant $72 per month for his care. There was a dispute as to whether these payments continued beyond five months.
