Farwell v. Keaton
Citation:
396 Mich. 281, 240 N.W.2d 217 (1976)Facts
On the evening of August 26, 1966, Richard Farwell and David Siegrist, along with two other friends, went to a trailer rental lot to socialize with some young women. Later, Farwell and Siegrist went to a drive-in restaurant where they were chased and assaulted by six boys. Farwell was severely beaten and suffered head injuries. Siegrist found Farwell underneath a car, helped him into Siegrist’s vehicle, and drove around for approximately two hours with Farwell lying unconscious in the back seat. Instead of seeking medical attention, Siegrist eventually drove to Farwell’s grandparents’ home, parked the car in the driveway, and left Farwell in the car. Siegrist told Farwell’s grandparents that Farwell was just drunk. The next morning, Farwell was found in the car, still unconscious, and was taken to the hospital where he died three days later from an epidural hematoma.
