133 S. Ct. 2107 (2013)Facts
Myriad discovered the location of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. Following discovery of the genes’ locations, Myriad developed medical tests for detecting mutations in the BRCA genes. Myriad also obtained patents for its discovery of the BRCA genes’ locations. However, other medical providers began providing BRCA testing services. Myriad sent letters to some of these providers and filed patent infringement suits against.
