When he makes several mistakes at work while distracted by his divorce, the other partners inform Billy that he must not work with or represent any clients until his divorce is finalized next month. His two main clients are Cassie and Debbie. The law firm sends an email to inform Cassie that Billy has been removed from her case and replaced by another partner. However, the law firm forgets to inform Debbie of the change. A few days later, Billy meets with Cassie and Debbie and has both clients sign contracts agreeing to a fee reduction.
Can the law firm be held liable for these two contracts?
