Contracts Keyed to Summers
Pillois v. Billingsley
Facts
Sherman Billingsley (Defendant), the director of Defendant, employed Raymond Pillois (Plaintiff) to secure an exclusive representation contract covering territories in the Western Hemisphere from S.A. Le Galion perfumes. Billingsley agreed to pay Plaintiff an amount that Billingsley alone would deem reasonable. Plaintiff went to France and returned with a contract granting Defendant exclusive representation in the United States and other territories in the Western Hemisphere for a period of ninety-nine years. Defendant accepted the contract but neither paid Plaintiff nor determined the reasonable value of Plaintiff’s services. Plaintiff sued to recover the reasonable value of his services. The trial court found that Plaintiff was entitled to recover $6,000. Billingsley appealed.
