Facts
Plaintiff’s grandfather arranged a note to be paid to Plaintiff on demand in the amount of $2000, to be at 6% per annum so that she would no longer have to work as a bookkeeper. Plaintiff ceased to work for one year and was paid accordingly. Then, with the consent of her grandfather, Plaintiff began working again as a bookkeeper. The testator died without paying the balance on the note, but said he would do so when he sold his farm. The district court allowed Plaintiff to recover based on the promissory note.
