Nixon v. Administrator of General Services
Facts
Former President Richard Nixon (Plaintiff) petitioned the United States Supreme Court to challenge the constitutionality of the Presidential Recordings and Materials Preservation Act as a violation of the separation of powers, executive privilege, the Bill of Attainder Clause, and the President’s First Amendment and individual privacy rights. The congressional act authorized the future implementation of standards for the review and maintenance of presidential records, but its immediate effect applied exclusively to the records of President Nixon.
